One of the original Mad Men, Bernie Zlotnick (seated), was a guest speaker at John Hynes’ advertising class at Seton Hall University. Bernie worked for Young & Rubicam back in the Mad Men days and was part of the group who inspired the Mad Men TV series.
He showed the students some of his print ads and TV commercials including his campaigns for Eastern Airlines, Absolut Vodka, Marvel Comics, and the Peace Corps. His campaign for the Peace Corps was selected as one the best 100 posters of the 20th century and is on display in the Smithsonian. He is also a recipient of a Clio award, the world’s most prestigious award for advertising, design, and communication. The class was an incredible opportunity for the students to meet one of the giants of the advertising business. Thanks, Bernie for sharing your fantastic work, experiences, insights, and humor with the class.
